Barnes & Noble and Borders Corporate Databases Cereb Press takes a critically important step that many self-publishing services neglect. Cereb
Press submits each of its books to the corporate offices of Barnes & Noble and Borders for inclusion in their corporate
purchasing databases. The huge retail book chains order from listings in their own databases and your book MUST be in those
databases. This inclusion will increase your chances for ordering and shelf placement.
Distribution To Major Online Retailers Your book will be listed and sold through many major online retail sources such as Barnes
& Noble, Amazon, Borders, Target, Walmart, Powell's, Abe Books, Alibris, and many smaller online retailers. These
online retailers order your book through our wholesale distribution sources — at your listed wholesale price. You receive
100% of the profit from these sales, minus your set author book cost and wholesale discount amount. Cereb Press never takes
a percentage of any of the net profit from these sales.
Wholesale Discount Pricing Books sold through Cereb Press wholesale distribution channels must have a minimum wholesale discount of 50% off
the book's retail price. Keep in mind that the wholesale distributor receivesa cut of the wholesale discount. For
example: Ingram will take 15% of that 50% discount and only pass 35% to the retailer. Cereb Press authors may opt to offer
a 55% wholesale discount, which will give the retailer a 40% discount.
Book Returns Most
brick-and-mortar bookstores will not order or stock a book if that book cannot be returned. Any author that hopes for brick-and-mortar
bookstore ordering and placement must give bookstores the option to return unsold books. This is just the reality of the business.
Cereb Press strongly encourages authors to offer a return option on their books, unless the author is not concerned with brick-and-mortar sales
and plans to focus only on online and author-direct sales. Unlike
most self-publishing services, Cereb Press does not charge any fee to designate a book as returnable. The author is, however,
responsible for the costs of returns on books sold through our wholesale distribution channels. Authors are free to set their
own return terms and conditions on books they purchase for author-direct sales. Authors are given the option of having their
returned books delivered to them or destroyed. Please contact Cereb Press for details.
